uMAP-R was created to allow clients, and their chosen consultants, the flexibility to view, interrogate, draw and print their own corporate geospatial data without the need for potentially expensive software and training. Greater flexibility is gained by using an internet based delivery system, therefore access can be gained worldwide. It allows clients to use their own interpretation skills without the need for a GIS consultant (e.g. REM) to be involved and thus costs are lowered and time delays reduced. Note that uMAP-R can be easily configured to reflect your companies colour theme and logo. Text can be displayed in almost any other language if required.
uMAP-R is server based and accessed via a secure internet site. It relies on the mature open source technologies GeoServer, Openlayers and PostgreSQL spatial database, providing a flexible system that can be continuously developed into the future.
uMAP-R is based on solid Cartographic principles which are lacking in many other WMS systems and GIS services. It will provide you with a professionally presented online GIS accessible worldwide.
The demo application uses data saved in a spatial database as well as "live" Web Mapping Service (WMS) data from various government departments. A demonstration prospect with drilling and geochemistry data will soon be added to showcase the ability to use clients' own data in combination with live WMS services.
Three implementation options are available:
Access to uMAP-R.net is via a secure logon portal. You will be supplied with a login and password so you can view, interrogate and print your own spatial data anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection.
Data Management:
The data displayed in uMAP-R needs to be maintained so that you are viewing the latest geospatial data such as drilling, proposed drilling, tenement, geochem, etc. New datasets have to be checked and uploaded into uMAP-R via Geoserver. This is a relatively quick process incurring minimal costs.
uMAP-R can be customised based on clients requirements including user interface, availablitiy of datasets and functionality.
